One of my favorite things to do when I get sick of the drab gray of winter is to peruse garden centers. Actually, who am I kidding? I love to do this all year round. A lot of times they are closed for the winter, or only have a tiny section open for tropical plant sales. Lucky for me, this time they also had early spring blooms aplenty. I wandered through the vivid lush green of the tropical plants, the many textures of the succulents and cacti, and then headed out to the cool outdoor section with the early spring bloomers in full vivid color. They even had some cool weather veggies like peas, lettuce, spinach and other greens.
Even though they aren't planted in a designer botanical garden scheme, the visit is free, and surrounds me with lush greenery. Plant-life replenishes my energy, and slows my pulse. If you've ever walked through a quiet forest, a sunlit meadow, or a beautiful garden, you know what I'm talking about. That peace, that feeling that comes over you, it's from the plants. This is why it feels so different in a house when there are plants. They carry a positive life-force within them, and when you spend time with them, it rubs off on you.
This is why I love gardening. I get so close with the plants, and they share their healing energies with me as I help them grow. If you garden, you've felt it and know what I'm talking about.
