The first real snow of the year is always pretty exciting. It paints over the dreary brown of winter with a magical white blanket. We got ours last week. A couple inches fell, and covered everything up, making my new yard more beautiful than I've seen it yet. If I can't plant flowers, I can at least admire the way the snow changes everything. I took a few minutes out of my morning to wander out and play in the snow as it fell in my backyard.
Although, this isn't a totally normal winter for us. It seems they never are anymore. When I was a kid, it seems like we got feet of snow, not just inches that melt as soon as the sun comes out the next day. Hopefully, we get a lot more. Winter never feels right when it's just brown ground visible everywhere you look. At least with this one, by the time the snow was done, the grass and pavement were both completely covered.
